Start-up at Ust-Kamenogorsk HPP

Rakurs-engineering Ltd. has successfully completed start-up and adjustment testing of group governing of active power (GRAM) system at Ust-Kamenogorsk HPP.

The testing has resulted in group governor of active power having been commissioned.

Hardware and software complex of GRAM system is based on Omron programmable logic controllers.

The system is governed by operative personnel from automated working place.

The main functions of GRAM system include the following:

· Group governing of plant frequency and active power;

· Automated start-up of reserved hydro generators when a range of plant active power load is exhausted, including their automated entering in a group after synchronizing with a network;

· Automated hydro units stop when a range of plant active power load is exhausted;

· Displaying of GRAM and hydro units mode of operation on operator’s automated working place;

· Transfer of information to automated control system server for monitoring of hydro units mode of operation;

· Generating of signals to plant alarm system.

Hydro units’ active power is governing through individual regulators such as EHR hardware and software complex (modern regulator of Rakurs production) and EHR-2И.
