Hydro unit automated control system supplied by Rakurs Group has been commissioned at Novosibirskaya HPP after overhaul of hydro unit No. 1 and replacement of Kaplan turbine to a new one. The system has been based on Siemens industrial controllers series SIMATIC S7-400.

The system contains the following hardware and software complexes (PTC):

MNU – control of oil pressure unit;

EHR – electrohydraulic regulator providing Kaplan turbine regulating bodies drive control;

ASUG – hydro unit automated control system performing control of hydro unit, hydromechanical protection and alarm system modes of operation;

TC – thermal control providing temperature control of hydro unit main connection joints and auxiliary equipment;

VC – vibration control providing technological control of hydro unit vibration parameters.

Automated control system (ASUG) provides hydro unit operation in the following modes:

· Turbine idle run

· Generator idle run

· Generator mode

· Synchronous compensator mode

This is a standard list of modes typical for a majority of HPP hydro units. Rakurs has gained a rich experience in similar systems designing.

Successful completion of hydro unit No. 1 automated control system start-up and adjustment has resulted in Rakur’s possibility to conclude a new contract for hydro unit automated control system supply for the rest 6 units of Novosibirskaya HPP. The contract’s performing is planned till 2018.
